YouTube video site almost matches NYTimes reach

Holy cow.

YouTube, the simple host for free videos/bandwidth is having a great `06. After toiling in relative obscurity, the site has jumped closer to becoming a mainstream web player. The most remarkable thing is how quickly the popularity has skyrocketed in just over three months.

Even more impressive is how YouTube has grown despite a very crowed marketplace–Google, Ourmedia, MySpace, are all playing for some of the pie. And the media is starting to notice–NBC and CBS has requested clips removed while MTV2 just inked a deal with YouTube.
