Bonus round: more inane stuff about me
I’ve been retagged by Lucas, and since the first ‘5 things you didn’t know about me‘ post received such fanfare, I’ll throw out a bonus round:
1- I tend to be quite strategic about where I sit in large public gatherings (big conference halls/ballrooms, classrooms, movie theaters, other ’self seated’ events, etc.), specifically with the thought in mind, “If a bomb explodes or a dragon attacks, what’s the quickest, clearest way out?” (I usually end up back right corner, aisle seat.)
2- I’m a huge fan of Henry Rollins, Henry David Thoreau and Neil Postman. I used to be kind of a punk, hippie, Luddite… and I am looking to get back into that mind frame. First step—prioritize and prune my 800+ rss feeds.
3- When I was 13, on a ski trip with school, I fell asleep/passed out while skiing down a ‘black diamond’ trail, crashed pretty badly and was knocked unconscious after tumbling through some moguls. (Background: It was the end of finals week, I was in my crazy ‘lets study and get good grades in school’ junior high period so I hadn’t slept much that week. It was a night skiing event and the last run my friends and I were trying to squeeze in before we had to board the bus and go home. … and I was just exhausted.) The weird thing is–I remember going to sleep. Have you ever rode your bike and kinda dared yourself to close your eyes and just feel the wind on your face? It was kind of like that… but when I closed my eyes, my brain was like, “Ahh… this feels good. Let’s take a nap.” I don’t remember anything after that… Evidently I had amnesia for the next twenty-some hours until I woke up the next evening at home in bed. That night was also the first time I’d ever skied. My friends skiing with me said that I caught some awesome air when I hit the first mogul, which is pretty awesome. I just wish I could remember it.
4- My right eye has significantly poorer vision than my left. It hasn’t been scientifically proven, but after than ski accident my right eye’s vision was significantly reduced. (The ski goggles I was wearing did kinda explode into many pieces when they smashed in between my face and the ground.) Yet my left eye’s vision remains almost perfect. (This is also part of the reason why I try to sit on the right side of rooms, so ma gud eye iz ust fo seein’ da most and also, when I’m giving someone the crook-eye why I use my left eye and eyebrow combo.)
5- On Friday, while both our bosses are away, a coworker known as “Pinkie” and I are secretly holding a holiday office party in our little multimedia dojo. If you’re in the PBC, swing by for some nog and clementines.
Dave, Erin, Tiffini, Tully and Fred … you’re it.
P.S. No backsies.
