While checkin’ up on my homies at the Illinois Press Photographers Association website, I noticed something shocking… Florida journalism jobs being listed in the Google ads? In Illinois?
I know the PalmBeachPost.com has the best job site on the planet ::thumbs up and corporate smile with a twinkle:: … but what’s this doing on the IPPA site? There’s no mention on Florida on that home page (and, as far as I know, there’s no Florida on that site at all… Ok, maybe it’s mentioned in a PDF or something.. but it’s doubtful.)
I haven’t seen this before on the IPPA website, just contextual ads about photographers, photo equipment, etc… It looks like Google is tracing IP addresses now to get micro-local targeted content.
More power too them. Now maybe all the news site managers that require registration for basic content (which has the authenticity of a Palm Beach socialite) will realize they could get the same info, with more accuracy from IP info.
